EKU online nursing from South Carolina: open in every program

Both licensure tables say Meets Requirements, EKU lists the state among SARA members without restrictions, and it attaches no South Carolina condition. There is little to decode here, which is useful in itself. South Carolina carries none of the notices, fees or contract limits EKU sets for Alabama or Missouri, and none of the listing questions that hang over its northern neighbor.

EKU's general out-of-state duties still apply to you. The graduate catalog asks every student to keep a home address on file, report a change of location, and tell EKU where any supervised field placement outside Kentucky will happen, which includes a clinic in Greenville or Charleston.
What South Carolina's Board regulates for outside programs
Regulation 91-6 is where South Carolina's Board speaks to schools from other states, and it is written with pre-licensure students in mind. A school preparing students for their first nursing license needs Board approval before those clinicals, plus full approval in its home state, on-shift faculty supervising on site under a South Carolina or compact license, an affiliation agreement in writing, and South Carolina rules for any precepting. A later change in compliance goes to the Board in writing inside 15 days.
Nothing in 91-6 mentions post-licensure tracks such as EKU's RN to BSN, FNP or PMHNP. For an RN in one of those, South Carolina's questions are about the preceptor, the practice and your license, not about Board approval of EKU.
NP practice and the South Carolina landscape
South Carolina holds AANP's restricted rating. NPs there perform delegated acts only under a written physician practice agreement, and the state caps controlled-substance supply, so the practice hosting your NSC 800 hours will be running on that agreement. EKU's specialty rules for preceptors are not public, so the preceptor requirements guide lists what to ask your faculty.
Your search can take in large systems like McLeod Health, Lexington Health, Prisma Health, Roper St. Francis Healthcare and MUSC Health, and the Columbia, Charleston-North Charleston and Greenville-Anderson-Greer metros, plus South Carolina's share of greater Charlotte. Those are search areas for NP students generally; none is named here as an EKU site.
South Carolina's preceptor tax credit, extended by 2024 Act No. 217 through tax year 2029, applies solely to rotations for students of South Carolina's public and independent colleges, so an EKU rotation sits outside it.
Your license for South Carolina clinicals
Since January 19, 2018, South Carolina has recognized multistate RN licenses through the Nurse Licensure Compact. It has passed no APRN Compact law. A multistate license issued by South Carolina or another compact state therefore covers RN practice at a South Carolina site. EKU looks for an unencumbered record in every state that has licensed you, and admitted students agree to Nursys e-Notify monitoring; the RN license and Nursys page explains both.

Questions EKU students ask
Is EKU's online PMHNP available in South Carolina?
Yes. The PMHNP sits under EKU's MSN licensure table, which marks South Carolina as Meets Requirements, and EKU publishes no South Carolina nursing restriction. The post-MSN PMHNP certificate follows the same table. Your psychiatric clinical hours, NSC 886 internship included, can be planned around a preceptor in your own part of the state.
Can I do my EKU clinical hours where I work in South Carolina?
EKU has published a graduate's account of completing FNP clinicals at her own workplace, though it sets out no MSN policy on the question, such as whether a different unit or supervisor is needed. Raise it with your faculty early, and read clinicals where you work for what makes a workplace option strong.
Does EKU's DNP accept South Carolina nurses?
Yes. South Carolina is on EKU's list of SARA states without restrictions and carries no DNP limit. The catalog asks for documentation of at least 1,000 clinical hours beyond the BSN, and EKU assesses at admission how many you still owe. Your DNP project can be based in the organization where you already work.
Can South Carolina RNs take EKU's online RN to BSN?
Yes, the RN to BSN table says Meets Requirements. The program has one clinical course, NSC 442C. An archived 2023-24 handbook described it as 60 clock hours over eight weeks when it carried fewer credits, so confirm the current format with EKU. The RN to BSN page covers the program.
